Who is the group for?The group is for all writers of performance comedy. This includes sitcoms or other comedy formats for TV or radio - comedy drama for stage or screen - cabaret miscellanea - or perhaps some new form of comedy altogether. Why not come along and try to baffle us with your ideas?
Isn't this another collection of club comedians?No, the group is designed to be writer driven rather than performer driven. However, performers and actors are welcome (whether they write or not), as their perspective and experience is an invaluable influence on the non-performing writers in the group.
Where does the group meet?The group meets in or near the centre of Manchester. The venue changes from time to time.
And when does it meet?Meetings take place at appoximately monthly intervals. They are generally held on a Saturday afternoon, however this can vary. Please email for details of the next meeting.
What exactly does the group do?The group exists to create an atmosphere of mutual support in which writers of comedy can thrive. Sub-groups and individuals will mostly pursue their own projects, with the general encouragement of the group, but there are also ongoing group creative projects in which everyone can participate.At the meetings, typical activities can be:
